The Division of Human Resources and the Office of General Counsel at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY have partnered in the creation of a new position of Conflict of Interest/Export Control Manager. The incumbent will develop and implement strategic initiatives to manage the Institute-wide Conflict of Interest and Commitment and Export Control Programs.
The Manager will serve as the single point-of-contact for the development and implementation of Conflict of Interest and Commitment management plans as well as Export Control compliance, and is expected to consistently review plans in accordance with federal, state and Agency regulatory requirements.
The Manager will coordinate all activities through the Office of the General Counsel and the Division of Human Resources and will work with other relevant portfolios, including the Office of the Provost, the Office of the Vice President for Research, the five (5) Academic Schools, the Division of Finance, and the Division of Student Life. In addition, the incumbent will be a resource for the Institute-wide Conflict of Interest Committee.
The Manager will provide information regarding research compliance, financial conflicts of interest and commitment, export control and the associated assessments of risk in these areas.
The ideal candidate will have an advanced degree, such as a J.D. or a Ph.D.in engineering or a life sciences discipline, as well as ten (10) or more years of experience working in a U.S. research university environment. Experience in the development of educational and communication materials for a wide variety of university constituencies is also highly desired. Minimally, candidates must possess a Bachelors Degree in a related field and ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in conflict of interest; export control; licensing; and/or research compliance.
