Quinebaug Valley Community College (QVCC), a recipient of numerous state and national awards for programs such as workforce development, dual enrollment, and activities designed and successfully implemented to foster or support teaching and learning in the community college, is one of 17 institutions that make up the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (ConnSCU). QVCC is a comprehensive, public, two-year college with its main campus in Danielson and a smaller Center in downtown Willimantic. The College prides itself on offering academic programs of high quality, as well as serving as a community center, opening its library and many events to the general public, and providing lectures, art exhibits, concerts, and occasional dramatic productions that are central to the cultural environment of the region. Quinebaug graduates easily transfer to many four-year colleges and universities, including the neighboring University of Connecticut and Eastern Connecticut State University, through guaranteed admissions and transfer articulation agreements. Additionally, training for local business is a major activity. The College’s occupational programs and business and industry education services are highly regarded by area employers, and QVCC has a strong and growing program of continuing education and community service activities. The ConnSCU Board of Regents is currently seeking a visionary President to assume leadership of QVCC. The new President will have an opportunity to lead a College that plays an exceptionally important role in the educational and economic development of the surrounding nine-county region. The College seeks a skilled administrator who is committed to community engagement and partnerships, takes a collegial and team-oriented approach to administration, and successfully engages QVCC faculty, staff, and employers. The new administrator will have a well-rounded background in leadership and demonstrated success in financial management, fundraising, and strategic and academic planning. A motivated and collaborative work ethic, strong communication skills, and knowledge of national trends in higher education will be necessary characteristics for this position. The new President will report to the President of the Board of Regents for ConnSCU and will be responsible for establishing relationships with other system officers. The successful candidate will join ConnSCU as it seeks to become a national leader in promoting expanded college access, affordability, and opportunities for students of all backgrounds and ages. S/he will relate to state and local officials, as well as corporate partners, to effectively advocate for QVCC and promote the College’s programs and initiatives. An advanced degree is required for this opportunity, while a terminal degree is preferred. Candidates with equivalent and/or applicable senior-level leadership experience are encouraged to apply.
