Moving & Storage Specialist
The Division of Administration and Finance seeks a Moving & Storage Specialist. The successful candidate is responsible for the timely and accurate set up of meetings and events throughout Towson University campus. The mission of the Event & Conference Services department is to provide scheduling, planning, coordination, execution, and management for all special events on the Towson University. The Moving & Storage Specialist will support the mission and will be responsible for administrating the Summer Conference program.
Responsibilities: Using good judgment, perform set-up and break down of event related equipment throughout the Towson University campus in a timely and accurate fashion, assuring proper room set up of equipment and make suggestions related to event set ups; staging the event; hanging banners and signs as needed; assist in the equipment inventory control functions; conduct routine tours of the university buildings and grounds noting and returning Event & Conference Service equipment to proper storage areas; routinely inspect condition of set up equipment; reporting equipment in need to repair to Event Operations Manager; suggest new or replacement equipment assisting in the efficiency of the department; organize and assign work orders to student employees to perform the task of setting up various evening and weekend event.
Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent and two years of experience. Ability to read, write and perform arithmetic calculations; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to perform physical work requiring bending, stooping, reaching, carrying, and frequent heavy lifting. Must have a valid Maryland Drivers Noncommercial Class C driver’s license and Federal DOT requirement of physical examination necessary to drive certain University vehicles. A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.
Schedule: Work schedule could vary depending on workload and event schedule. Normal schedule is Sunday through Thursday 4:30pm – 1:00am Occasional overtime may be required.
Salary: $26,931 annually and full university benefits that include excellent health, life insurance, and retirement plans; tuition remission; and 10 days of annual leave, up to 14 holidays, person and sick days. This position is contingent on funds being available at the time of hire.
