FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Department of Education and Language Acquisition is seeking to fill a tenure-track Assistant Professor position. The candidate will be expected to teach various levels of Mandarin Chinese, Heritage Chinese, and modern and classical Chinese literature courses.

The candidate will also be expected to participate in departmental, divisional and college initiatives, engage in program development and student advisement and establish an active and ongoing research agenda in areas of specialization including presentations at professional conferences and scholarly publications.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. degree in Chinese Literature is required. A minimum of two years' college-level teaching experience in an urban and diverse setting in the U.S. required. The candidate must be knowledgeable of the Pinyin system and both simplified and traditional Chinese characters. Experience in course development, program coordination and teacher-training preferred.

A candidate who is proficient in another Asian language and has experience in teaching Asian literature will be given priority in consideration.
