or Visiting Assistant Professor, K-12 Social Studies, beginning August 2013.

The Education Department at Albion College invites applications for a one year Visiting Instructor
or Visiting Assistant Professor, K-12 Social Studies, beginning August 2013. The department’s
mission is to integrate the strengths of the liberal arts with the pedagogy teachers need for working
with children in diverse K-12 classrooms. Candidates need to be grounded in public school
practice and research, and have a sound knowledge of social issues in education. Minimum
qualifications include a master’s degree; a strong background in social studies education; a
commitment to undergraduate teaching and an interest and/or experience in course and program
development. Preferred qualifications include an earned doctorate in education (or ABD) and
teaching experience in both higher education and K-12 schools with diverse populations. The
department is committed to creating an environment supportive of faculty and students of color.
