The University of Southern California Office of Undergraduate Admission seeks a Senior Associate Director. This position reports to the director, and serves as a senior advisor on all issues related to undergraduate admission.
This position directly oversees three major functional areas: the visitor center, the events team, an administrative support team. The visitor center, which has a professional staff of three and student staff of approximately 90, receives 70.000 visitors annually for campus tours, information sessions, transfer student events, and admitted student events. The event team plans and oversees approximately 75 events per year for prospective and admitted students both on campus as well as in US and international cities. The administrative support team oversees all mailings connected to the admission process, including decision letters.
The successful candidate will bring to the office a national perspective, strong leadership experience in a high volume, highly selective environment, and will be comfortable overseeing technology development to facilitate online services for prospective students. A minimum of five years of progressive experience in an undergraduate environment is required. A bachelor's degree is required, though master’s degree or higher is preferred.
In 2012 USC received more than 46,000 applications for first-year admission -- more than any private university in the US -- and 8,300 for transfer admission. Over the past decade, first-year applications have risen 65%, and average SAT scores have risen 70 points to the 95th percentile. USC is in the midst of an aggressive campaign to raise $6 billion in six years to strengthen our endowment and to fund scholarships. Preparation is underway to begin construction on the USC Village, a 350,000 square-foot community improvement project that will bring additional housing, classroom space, and retail to the community.
