Tacoma Community College is a nationally recognized public community college located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, just south of Seattle. TCC enrolls more than 10,000 students each quarter. TCC was recently honored by the 34-college Washington community and technical college system for the largest improvement in the systems student achievement initiative.

We are seeking innovative leaders for a key faculty and administrative positions.

Basic Function
Reporting to the Associate Dean for Nursing, independently perform professional responsibilities in support of the Nursing program including coordinating, scheduling and monitoring program activities to ensure consistency with program goals.

Essential Functions
•Research purchases relative to program needs, obtain quotes, prepare budget projections, coordinate and prepare faculty purchase requests for the department. Monitor & maintain Nursing budgets; planning and prioritizing expenditures, initiate corrective action as indicated.
•Independently perform complex scheduling of classroom, lab and clinical sites for the Nursing program & in coordination with Corporate/Continuing Education, IEN program and other on/off campus programs, prioritizing needs of each program.
•Develop and disseminate quarterly program schedule for students, faculty and staff.
•Research and assist in the development of program policies and procedures in relation to established program outcomes, determine variance from program standards. Monitor outcomes and make recommendations for changes.
•Attend meetings and serve as liaison for the Nursing program; at meetings such as the clinical placement consortia.
•Confirm regularly with representatives of off campus organizations and agencies; NCPD #1 clinical placement coordinator, MultiCare student placement coordinator, Franciscan Health System student placement coordinator to insure sufficient clinical rotations.
•Make public presentations, including student Nursing Information Sessions, to share program content, policies and activities and promote the program with outside individuals, recommending alternative courses of action as appropriate.
•Schedule, organize and conduct semi-monthly faculty meetings, quarterly program advisory committee meetings, and accreditation site visits including detailed arrangements for all accoutrements required for said events.
•Using complex spreadsheet software, independently produce statistical information and documents relating to the program for regular program accreditation.
•Advise students who request transfer in status, including transcript, syllabi, and program standing document review.
•Research; obtain quotes and purchase supplies and equipment.
•Supervise, evaluate, mentor and train staff.
•Collaborate and provide confidential and complex support for Associate Dean of Nursing.
•Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
•Bachelors Degree from accredited college or university.
•Two years professional experience providing professional support to a specialized program.
•Intermediate word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and mail software skills (Microsoft Office preferred).

•Intermediate word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and mail software skills (Microsoft Office preferred).

Preferred Qualifications
•Healthcare experience.
•Experience in higher education.
•Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office programs.

Terms of Employment
This is a full-time over time exempt position scheduled to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Flexibility in scheduling is required to meet department needs and some evening hours may be required. Due to Washington State’s budget situation and as a part of the collective bargaining agreement, a temporary 3% salary reduction will be implemented from July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013. The salary during this reduction will be $2,642 to $3,443 per month. Tacoma Community College offers a generous benefits package to include: life, health, dental and long-term disability insurance, state retirement, vacation leave, sick leave and holiday pay. A collective bargaining agreement exists and membership in the Washington Federation of State Employees or payment of a service fee is required within 30 calendar days of employment. . The layoff unit for this position is “Project Employment”.
