Warren Wilson College is seeking a creative and visionary person to serve as Vice President for Enrollment and Marketing—someone with energy and passion for the College’s mission who will bring fresh ideas for increasing awareness of and interest in this distinctive college and its important work.
The Position: The Vice President for Enrollment and Marketing reports to President Steven Solnick, who began his tenure as the 7th president of Warren Wilson College in July 2012. The Vice President is a member of the President’s Advisory Council and will be asked to shape and guide enrollment goals and activities in a confident and transparent manner. In addition to overseeing the offices of Undergraduate Admission, Financial Aid and Marketing, the Vice President will partner with faculty, staff, students, and parents to tell the narrative of Warren Wilson College and enroll students who are interested and best suited to succeed at the College. He or she will also:
• Develop an annual plan for the division outlining trends, statistical realities, historical comparisons, short-term and long-term goals
• Manage student financial aid resources (including complex work college funding sources) in a way that is consistent with the College’s strategic initiatives and mission
• Oversee and direct all image, branding, communication and public relations efforts of the college to ensure consistency of message and increased understanding of Warren Wilson College in the marketplace
• Mentor staff members and encourage their professional development
• Fully integrate the offices of admission, financial aid and marketing to effectively promote the College to prospective students and other external audiences.
• Continue to foster Warren Wilson’s national and international recruitment efforts, with an eye to increasing ethnic, racial and socio-economic diversity
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across campus in student life, athletics, information technology, academic affairs to achieve institution-wide goals
Qualifications: Candidates for this position will be expected to have strong leadership skills in the field of enrollment management, innovative ideas and the rare combination of patience and a sense of urgency. The ability to analyze and use data is expected, as is the ability to think quickly. A person with a record of success in increasing demand and applications, improving a college’s market position and increasing net revenue will be an excellent candidate. The ideal candidate must be able to inspire and motivate staff members in admissions, financial aid and marketing, and unite them with a shared vision. Candidates must possess a deep sense of integrity and honesty, good communication skills and a sense of humor. At least seven years of progressively responsible experience is required; advanced degree is preferred.
