Summary of Position: Serves as the sole manager of one of eight residential areas on a campus consisting of residence halls, suite style buildings, and apartment buildings, housing over 4,000 students.
As a live-in staff member, the Residence Coordinator supervises a residential area with a staff of resident assistants, graduate level assistant residence coordinator, and desk receptionists. The Residence Coordinator serves, on a rotating basis, as the crisis management contact for all residential students. As a result, the Residence Coordinator must maintain strong relationships with the University Police, Office of the Dean of Students, Counseling Center, and Health Center staff and other university support services. The Residence Coordinator enforces university policy and procedures by serving as a conduct officer with the authority to recommend student suspension.

The Residence Coordinator offers guidance and advisement to the 400-660 residents who reside in their residential area of campus. The Residence Coordinator also serves as a primary educator for academic success and life skills through consistent interaction with residential students. The Residence Coordinator manages sizeable budgets requiring an understanding of departmental budgeting processes. Lastly, the Residence Coordinator relies heavily on administrative skills to interface with facilities operations, work on committee tasks, and develops human resources processes and staff training systems.

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Graduation from a four-year college or university; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Diplomas and degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Must have knowledge of student development theory, counseling skills, crisis intervention/response, and conduct practices.

Must have knowledge of theories related to housing and residence life, community development, team development and management, personality typology, and programming and advising theories.

Must have excellent computer software skills, to include proficiency with Microsoft Office or other comparable programs.

Must have familiarity with legal issues in higher education, particularly as they relate to personnel matters.

Must have the ability to enforce university and housing policies.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Higher Education, Educational Leadership, College Student Personnel, Counseling, or a related field and one year of leadership/management experience in residence halls preferred. Experience in student group advising, budget management, and residence life experience preferred. Familiarity with legal issues in higher education, particularly as they relate to personnel matters helpful.

Work Hours 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Work Days Monday - Friday with some weekend responsibilities

Max. Salary Advertised: $30,750
Anticipated Hiring Range: $27,384-$30,750
