Founded in 1848, Moore College of Art & Design is the first and only visual arts college for women in the United States. Through its undergraduate bachelor of fine arts degrees for women and its coeducational graduate programs, Moore cultivates creativity, promotes scholarship, and prepares its students for professional careers in the arts by emphasizing critical thinking, problem solving, risk taking, and strong communication skills. The vibrant Philadelphia campus, located centrally in the “cultural corridor” of the city, is home to Moore's close-knit community. Small classes encourage collaboration and lay a solid foundation in art and design that sets the platform for a creative life.
Reporting to the President, the Executive Director of Admissions provides strategic leadership in advancing the College’s recruitment plan, focusing primarily on expanding brand awareness, building the application pipeline, and enrolling talented first-year, transfer, and post-baccalaureate students into the BFA program. As the chief admissions officer, the Executive Director is a key member of the senior management team and collaborates with the President and Chief Financial Officer, as well as enrollment management consultants to bring a data-informed, matrixed approach to building enrollment and leveraging of financial aid designed to support sustainable enrollment growth. The Executive Director will join the College at a time of significant positive momentum and investment in academic excellence. With a passion for the arts and understanding of contemporary admissions/recruitment best practices, including the use of ERP and CRM systems, the Executive Director will serve as an integral member of the nine member admissions team, cultivating innovation and continuous improvement, providing professional development to staff, and actively supporting all strategic and daily admissions initiatives (e.g., on- and off-campus open house and special recruiting/yield events; special workshops; high school and community college visits; portfolio review days; college fairs, etc.). Additionally, the Executive Director will track and analyze admissions metrics, utilizing this data to make informed decisions regarding allocation of both human resources and technology; work collaboratively with the director of marketing and communications to assure dynamic messaging of print, web-based, and social media admissions content; and coordinate admissions processing and support in conjunction with the Director of Graduate Studies as well as with Directors of Continuing Education for adult and youth programs. The Executive Director is responsible for directly managing a budget of $831,000 and for overseeing $5.3M in annual merit-based financial aid awards.
The successful candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of progressive admissions experience in a higher education setting, including a demonstrated understanding of strategic enrollment management and track record of growing enrollment in a tuition-driven environment. Documented management experience and staff supervision, and an ability to prioritize and multitask are required. Contemporary knowledge of recruitment technology and its application to admissions/enrollment best practices, including familiarity with CRM systems are essential to success. A capacity to analyze and interpret data and demographic trends to shape enrollment strategies and recruitment market development; ability to work independently, as well as part of a team; and passion for the arts will also be important considerations in the selection of the Executive Director of Admissions.
