The Sage College of Albany, a part of The Sage Colleges, seeks a creative, collegial administrator to lead a highly motivated faculty dedicated to providing a professional and liberal arts-based undergraduate education to a diverse student body. The dean must be a strong advocate for applied and interdisciplinary studies and able to speak knowledgeably and persuasively about their advantages to both internal and external audiences. A start date of July 2013 is desired.
The successful candidate will hold academic credentials sufficient for appointment at the rank of Professor to one of the institution’s existing academic programs and will have a demonstrated record of innovation and exemplary leadership in the areas of new and evolving pedagogies, assessment, service learning, global educational programming, and undergraduate research. A commitment to the Boyer model of scholarship is a pre-requisite for this position. Previous experience as a dean, associate dean or department chair is highly desired.
Expectations for this position include maintaining an active presence in the internal and external communities, assisting the Office of Institutional Advancement in seeking external funding, and working collaboratively with the Office of Student Life to ensure a culturally and intellectually diverse environment for the entire community.
The college’s core curriculum is grounded in its multi-course Innovation Thinking (i.Think) sequence, which supports the college’s commitment to interdisciplinary and discipline-based programs that include accredited programs in the visual arts. The college’s commitment to a melding of professional and liberal arts preparation is exemplified by its consortial affiliation with the New American Colleges and Universities.
In addition to the coeducational Sage College of Albany, The Sage Colleges, located in the Tech Valley Region of New York State, comprise the Russell Sage College for women, and three graduate schools: Management, the Esteves School of Education and Health Sciences.
