The Staff Accountant assists in the maintenance of accounting books and records by preparing accounting reports and journal entries in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and procedures. This position is responsible for grant and endowment accounting by maintaining endowment/investment records and preparing monthly journal entries to update the General Ledger for all investment activity. The Staff Accountant will prepare account reconciliation of endowment/investment accounts to subsidiary ledger maintained by Institutional Advancement and will develop and maintain grant tracking system.
Qualified candidates will have a bachelor's degree in accounting and knowledge of grant preparation, endowment accounting, and accounts payable and accounts receivable. Candidates should have at least two years general accounting experience including general ledger and financial statement preparation. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required. Candidate needs to be a team player with ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines in a busy office. Proficiency in Excel spreadsheets, Word and general ledger software are a must.
