The University of Connecticut, Schools of Fine Arts and Business invites applications for a trans-disciplinary nine month, non-tenure track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor in-Residence with a creative focus on Digital Graphic Design, 2D & 3D Animation and Production for the Digital Arts, Film, Television and Digital Game Design to start 8/22/2013, renewable on an annual basis. Selected candidate will teach introduction up to graduate level classes in addition to supporting faculty collaborations through the Digital Media Center centered on animation for purposes of Entertainment, Artistic, Marketing, Branding, Engineering, Scientific, Architecture and/or Gaming applications.

Minimum Qualifications: Successful candidates must have a BFA, BS or BA in Art, Animation, Filmmaking or other appropriate fields. Equivalent foreign degrees are acceptable. Demonstrated expertise in: Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro, Maya and either Softimage or 3D Studio Max; Modeling, lighting, textures, rigging, camera movement and compositing (used in real production) required; Digital portfolio with detailed breakdowns of each entry, demonstrating ideation, design, final project implementation; Evidence of engagement in institutional and/or professional service.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with a record of distinguished teaching and mentoring at the undergraduate level; Demonstrated professional/commercial experience working with film and/or video productions; video gaming companies; advertising or marketing agencies and/or technical visualization agencies.; A digital portfolio demonstrating extensive professional Motion Graphics, 2D & 3D animation experience in any or all of the following areas: film and/or television production, video game development and production, ePublishing, advertising/marketing production, creative art making, engineering, pharma, architecture. Demonstrated ability to contribute through research, teaching, and/or public engagement to the diversity and excellence of the learning experience; familiarity with NukeX a plus.

This is a full-time, nine (9)-month, appointment. Salary is competitive and based on qualifications and professional experience. The successful candidate's primary academic appointment will be at the Storrs campus with the strong possibility of work at UConn's Stamford campus. The Storrs campus is located in Connecticut between Boston and New York City.
