Doane College invites applications for the position of Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs. The Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs (AVPAA) reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and works collaboratively with faculty and the administration to develop and implement academic policies and procedures. As a member of the academic leadership team, the AVPAA represents the vice president on various college committees, is responsible for working with faculty on the continuing development and implementation of the College’s institutional assessment plan with special focus on the new HLC criteria for the assessment of student learning. Works closely with the VPAA and other staff and faculty on strategic planning and assists with building and implementing new initiatives that support academic excellence, particularly the support and expansion of experiential learning. Other areas may be assigned based on the candidate’s qualifications.
The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to liberal education and have the opportunity to teach in their field or in an interdisciplinary area. Doctorate preferred, terminal degree required with at least seven years experience in higher education; preference will be given to the candidate who can demonstrate progressive leadership experience at the department, division, or college level. The successful candidate will have strong communication and planning skills and be able to foster collaborative working relationships across all areas of the college.
