FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Electrical and Telecommunications Engineering Technology of the New York City College of Technology (City Tech) seeks candidates for a full time tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor level. The department's associate degree programs in electrical and telecommunications engineering technology prepare graduates for careers as electronic technicians and telecommunications technicians. The baccalaureate program in telecommunications engineering technology (BTech) prepares graduates for careers as telecommunications technologists. The BTech program in telecommunications engineering technology builds upon the skills learned in the first two years and adds more advanced study in data communications, coding, computer systems, satellite and fiber optic communications among a number of other emerging telecom technologies. All three programs are accredited by TAC of ABET. A new baccalaureate program in electrical engineering technology is under final review by the New York State Education Department, with an expected start date of fall 2013. The department is made up of highly qualified faculty, some well recognized internationally. The employers of graduates include Citicorp, MTA, and Verizon, among others.
We are looking for a candidate who is specialized in both electrical and telecommunications engineering technology with emphasis on electrical part. For the new BTech in Electrical Engineering Technology program, we are especially interested in individuals who specializes in at least one of the following fields:
a. Analog and digital electronics
b. Power systems
c. Control systems
The department seeks a professional who is dedicated to teaching, curriculum development, and student advisement; who can contribute to the department's continuous work in upgrading and further developing our laboratories and prepared to conduct scholarly work that will contribute to the advancement of our programs. Faculty members in the department teach a wide spectrum of courses, from basic electrical and electronic concepts to modern telecommunications, including support for emerging applications.
Performs teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.
QUALIFICATIONS
PhD in Electrical Engineering (EE) or a related field and a minimum of three years of teaching/ industrial experience.
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
