The Center for Academic Programs at the University of Connecticut is seeking applicants for the position of Program Advisor. This program provides academic support to selected high school students throughout Connecticut with the ultimate goal of entry to post-secondary education. There is an academic year and a summer component. The successful candidate will be responsible for academic and college counseling, monitoring students' progress, high school and site visits, recruitment activities, parent meetings, planning academic activities, college visits, staff training and supervision, preparation of reports and additional administrative duties. There is a partial residential requirement during the six-week summer academic program.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree preferably in counseling or related field; demonstrated experience working with teenagers in a multi-racial environment, in guidance counseling, community work or social agency; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated supervisory experience; demonstrated experience managing and completing administrative tasks and projects; ability to travel and work flexible hours; and the ability to make a six week commitment to the residential component.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in counseling or related field; three or more years of demonstrated experience working with high school students in a multi-racial environment, in guidance counseling, community work or social agency; grant writing experience; bilingual English/Spanish; knowledge of TRiO programs; experience in residential life in a college setting.

Salary is in the mid 40's and includes full benefits. This is a full time, end-date position, subject to renewals.
