Overview:
This is an opening for an Adjunct Computer Information Systems Professor to teach in the College of Engineering and Information Sciences in the area of Computer Information Systems.
DeVry University's Westminster, CO campus seeks a web design and digital media adjunct faculty member that will be responsible for facilitating student learning by delivering educational courses and programs, in accordance with DeVry University requirements for the College of Engineering & Information Sciences. This is an on-campus teaching position that is based at the Westminster, Colorado campus. Technology qualifications should include strong development and troubleshooting capabilities in significant portions of ASP.NET architecture, multi-tier business systems development, Oracle®, Java, MS Access, MS SQL Server, Dreamweaver, and robust code development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops and provides students with an approved DeVry University syllabus that follows a template established by the local campus, and which includes the terminal course objectives.
- Organizes, prepares, and regularly revises and update all course materials.
- Uses appropriate technological options for online technologies and course-related software, including Websites, e-mail, and online discussions for preparing the course and making it accessible to students.
- Effectively lead development and design projects, helping students to develop the capabilities to produce professional projects and presentations.
- Successfully tests, prepares, and troubleshoot laboratory environments and assist students in hands-on learning experiences using professional tools.
- Models effective oral and written communications that engage the students, provide clarity, and improve student learning.
- Sets clear expectations for the course by publishing course terminal objectives, assignment/examinations dates, and weight the distribution of various evaluation categories.
- Publishes course terminal objectives, assignment/examination fees dates, and the weight distribution of various evaluation categories. Ensure that all tests are formatted with proper instructions. Provide advance notice of all major exams.
- Ensures that the content and level of material included on exams correspond to the course terminal objectives that the material has been adequately addressed in the course, which concepts have been demonstrated, and that relevant homework has been reviewed.
- Provides multiple evaluative formats for students to demonstrate their knowledge and earn their grades in the course.
- Demonstrates consistency and fairness in the preparation and grading of exams, and provide timely feedback to students.
- Creates an atmosphere of mutual respect in the classroom by avoiding inappropriate comments about any individual, social group, the university, the company, or competitors.
- Maintains proper records, grades, reports, and other documents and deliver them in a timely fashion to the appropriate academic administrator.
- Assist in training and mentoring of new faculty, and class observations and support of adjunct faculty.
- Participates in university service involvement with activities that include community outreach, enrollment management, University Days, or career services events.
- Participates in at least one academic initiative designed to support enrollment management, career services, or outreach to the community, including local high schools and community colleges.
- Participates in capstone assessment program of the College.
- Participates in the College’s Industry Advisory Councils.
- Ensures that the content and level of material included on exams correspond to the course terminal objectives.
- Demonstrates consistency and fairness in the preparation and grading of exams, and provide timely feedback to students.
Teaching responsibilities will include both undergraduate- and graduate-level courses, and evenings and weekends at both the Westminster and Denver South campuses.
Qualifications:

- The candidate must have a master’s degree with 18 graduate credit hours in a related field. Candidates with a PhD will be given preference.
- A coding problem will be given as part of the hiring process.

- Three to five years of industry experience appropriate to the course subject matter.
- Previous teaching experience with demonstrate effective teaching practices.
- Proficiency in all learning modalities to include face-to-face and hybrid models required by the assignment and the expansion of the breadth of courses taught.
- Must be able to work in a collegial manner and facilitate the efforts of diverse groups.
- Must be proficient in relevant technologies as indicated in the overview.
