Counsels students with academic advisement concerning degree curriculums, academic regulations, procedures, policies, interpretation of the evaluation, program changes, transfer credit, advanced standing, and graduation requirements.
Academic advisors are responsible for reaching out to students within the term to monitor their progress and provide guidance if they are having any issues. Academic advisors provide students with information about career opportunities available through the pursuit of the different degrees, minors, certificates, and specializations. Academic Advisors counsel students on capstone projects and or graduate portfolios. Advisors serve as the liaison between the student and Financial Aid Office, Veterans Affairs, Bookstore, Student Accounting, and numerous other departments. The position requires independent judgment and decision making in the assessment and resolution of student issues. Conducts detailed analyses of student academic records. Counsels and develops suggested degree plans.

Advisement and Counseling
Counsels students on degree curriculums, academic regulations, prerequisites, graduation requirements,
procedures, policies and the interpretation of their evaluation. Counsel students in the development of
degree plans. Proactively contacts students at the beginning, within, and the end of their courses to ensure they
are prepared and do need assistance. Counsels students regarding university policies and procedures, track their
progress, and make enrollment recommendations. Integral involvement with student retention outreach efforts.
Responsible for advising and assessing student requests for drops, academic and curriculum waivers,
changes of program, declaration of minors, change of catalogs, requests for updated evaluations,
applications for graduation, and approval to take courses at another institution. Decision making
responsibilities for academic and curriculum waivers, and student instructor issues.
Counsel students regarding Financial Aid, Tuition Assistance, Industry Reimbursements, Tuition Payment,
Agreements, and Veterans Affairs. Serve as the liaison between the student and support departments.
Promotes scholarship opportunities, information about honor society, Whos Who, alumni affinity groups,
career services, and other organizations.
Management of Student Files
Responsible for maintaining accurate information in several databases, updating and interpreting data in
Campus Solutions, accessing information from Stellent.
Responsible for reconciling and resolving individual student enrollment and academic issues.
Accountable for student enrollments and meeting individual enrollment targets. Evaluates student
prerequisite knowledge. Ensures students enroll and meet curriculum requirements.
Accountable for the accurate maintenance of over 500 active student files.
Student Services
Counsel students in the navigation of Blackboard.
Serve as a bridge between the faculty and student.
Provide support to Centers and Center Students regarding online issues
Ensure students have correct textbooks and assist with any course material issues.
Performs other duties or special projects as delegated.
