Primary Function of Organizational Unit - The mission of the Department of Health and Exercise Studies is to educate a globally diverse NC State population regarding the benefits of living a healthy and physically active lifestyle by providing equal opportunities and professional preparation in sport, fitness, health, and recreation.
Position Overview - Establishing curriculum within the emergency medicine (EM) program; teaching all required courses; coordination of clinical/lab requirements for all students; coordination of all local/state/national certification exams for students at all levels within the EM program.
Primary Purpose of Position - The faculty program coordinator will be responsible for teaching existing EM classes, developing/teaching all future EM course offerings, and supervising all aspects of the program which includes coordination of required clinical experiences for students at all levels of instruction. Program coordinator will also arrange all local/state/national certification exams for students at all levels within the EM program.
Other Duties and Responsibilities - Teach health classes that support the EM program; serve on departmental and division committees; engage in extension/service related to the mission of the department.
Work Schedule - 40 hours per week with adjustments necessary for non-traditional instruction times during evenings and weekends, especially related to clinical requirements.
Proposed Minimum Education/Experience -
•Master’s degree. Applicants without a master’s degree but with extensive
experiences and credentials in the field may be considered.
•Documented teaching/administrative expertise in EM
•Experience in administration of local/state/national clinical requirements for EM certification
•North Carolina Paramedic Certification
•North Carolina EMT-Paramedic Level-II Instructor Certification
•National Registry EMT-Paramedic Certification
Department Required Skills -
• Master’s degree. Applicants without a master’s degree but with extensive experiences and credentials in the field may be considered.
• Documented teaching experience in EM
• North Carolina Paramedic Certification
• North Carolina EMT-Paramedic Level-II Instructor Certification
• National Registry EMT-Paramedic Certification
Preferred Experience, Credentials, Qualifications, Certifications -
• 5+ years teaching experience within EMS profession and/or at the college level
Required License or Certification -
• North Carolina Paramedic Certification
• North Carolina EMT-Paramedic Level-II Instructor Certification
• National Registry EMT-Paramedic Certification
Salary Range: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00
