Job Summary
The University of St. Thomas, Physical Plant is accepting applications for a full-time Mechanical Maintenance (HVAC) Engineer.
Under the direction of the chief engineer this position operates and maintains all mechanical equipment, plumbing systems, HVAC equipment, steam-generating equipment and accessories, kitchen equipment, maintains swimming pools, saunas and hot tubs; performs preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment.
This is a second shift position with the tentative scheduled hours of 2:30 – 10:30 p.m., Monday – Friday. This position may be called upon to work weekends and holidays as needed.
Background checks will be completed in the selection process for this position. Individual must pass a criminal background check and a pre-employment physical.
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED; graduate of a 2 year HVAC/plumbing/boiler operations program and recognized apprenticeship program; Minnesota State First Class C Boiler License; swimming pool operator certification; Universal refrigerant certification.
We are looking for candidates with working knowledge of steam-generating boilers and accessories, plumbing systems, and energy management DDC and pneumatics and hands-on ability to perform plumbing repairs and to work in adverse temperatures.

This position is in a collective bargaining unit. New employees must satisfy a 60 working day probationary period and join the union after its satisfactory completion.
