Hollins University is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Director of the Career Center. The assistant director reports to and collaborates with the Director of the Career Center, and also works with the administrative assistant, to provide Hollins students and alumnae/i with the skills and knowledge needed to make lifelong career decisions.

The Assistant Director of the Career Center assists with program planning, promotion, and implementation; is responsible for the implementation, execution, and assessment of the First-Year Internship Program; helps with the Alumnae Engagement Campaign; provides one-on-one career advising; designs, promotes, and facilitates career development workshops and events; writes and edits Career Center communications; develops and implements placement strategies for internship, employment, and other learning opportunities; promotes Hollins to potential employers, and arranges interview opportunities for students; updates media outlets for the Career Center; and supervises 3-5 student employees.

Position is scheduled to work Monday-Thursday from 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Successful applicants must have a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in communication studies, business, human resources management or related field; minimum of one year of experience in individual and/or group career assessment, advising, and counseling activities; knowledge of business and social trends; proficiency with Microsoft Office; effective organizational, communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills; and a valid and clear driver’s license. Candidates must also have abilities to use social media tools; design and facilitate workshops or make presentations; collaborate and work closely with alumnae/i, faculty, and students during all steps of the placement process; and work independently, with minimal supervision, and as a team player. Applicants must be able to work weekend hours and additional evening hours as needed. Final candidates will be subject to a motor vehicle check.
