Job Description Summary
This position provides disability support services to a student population at one or more campuses – but primarily at the Cartersville campus.
Key Qualifications
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field – master’s degree preferred
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type vehicle or equipment operated
Key Responsibilities
Provides support and accommodations to students with disabilities
Reviews medical and psychological documentation submitted by students
Maintains student records
Maintains computerized database software
Provides on- and off-campus disability awareness, student support, and mental health presentation
Consults with faculty and staff regarding accommodations, disability compliance, and student support
Provides academic, career and disability related counseling to students
Provides student advising, registration assistance, and coordination with other campus offices on behalf of student
Proctors quizzes, exams, and entrance and exit tests
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of federal laws pertaining to individuals with disabilities
Knowledge of University System of Georgia Board of Regents policies and institutional policies and procedures
Knowledge of career and rehabilitative counseling
Knowledge of disability and mental health resources
Knowledge of psycho-educational testing
Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs
Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions
Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and to gain trust
Skill in oral and written communication
