The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW), a Catholic liberal arts institution located in San Antonio, Texas, is seeking applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Graphic Design to teach undergraduate courses in graphic design (print and interactive media).
Essential Duties:
Official duties and responsibilities of faculty members at the University include teaching, scholarship, service, and professional activities. Other duties include curriculum development, advising students. In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics consistent with the UIW Mission.
Required Education:
Minimum requirement - MFA in Graphic Design / Visual Communication / Communication Design.
Required Experience:
A minimum of 3-5 years industry experience in either graphic design, web/interactive design, or advertising design and a minimum of 2-3 years teaching experience at the higher education level are both required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong background in graphic design, typography, and web/interactive design.
Knowledge of basic design principles as applied to communication design, industry standard software, and printing processes and methods.
Knowledge of graphic design history, graphic design business, theory, methodology, and interactive web-based applications.
Must be proficient in using industry standard design software (Adobe Creative Suite - specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Dreamweaver)
