Job Summary:
The University of the Incarnate Word is seeking a Clinical Simulation Technician to provide the technical skills to support the use of simulation (low fidelity to high fidelity) in both the graduate and undergraduate program of the health professions schools. Responsible for preparing and maintaining skills lab and simulation lab equipment, media, computers, and materials related to clinical simulation.
Essential Duties:
Identifies and implements solutions to problems related to simulation equipment, computer hardware and software. Repairs and maintains equipment as required or initiates repairs for equipment under warranty (communicates with manufacturers regarding maintenance, repairs, updates and technology changes related to simulation technology). Performs related duties as required.
Other Requirements: Must be able to lift 30 lbs (manikins and equipment). Supports/assists in role playing applications, props placement and moulage set-up to create a realistic environment. Reinforces and maintains high ethical standards of conduct and procedures to assist in ensuring the security of the University's technology assets and data. Good communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills. Due to nature of work, frequent contact with users experiencing technical issues will be required; ability to defuse tense situations and work to resolve issues through customer service-oriented approach is required.
Required Education:
Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education/experience in clinical simulation and/or information technology.
Required Experience:
Two years of experience in healthcare/media environment. Accomplished in using Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Windows Media, etc.), have the ability to troubleshoot basic hardware/software issues, PC and MAC proficient and an ability to use Audio/Visual and photo production equipment.
