The California State University seeks a president to lead California State University, Fresno, California’s Central Valley’s largest, oldest, and most respected public university. The successful candidate will be expected to begin duties on or about July 1, 2013.
California State University, Fresno, also known as Fresno State, is one of the 23 campuses of the California State University system and serves Central California’s diverse, growing population, while interacting with the state, the nation, and the world. The prestigious Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching has awarded Fresno State its Community Engagement Classification, acknowledging the University’s extensive partnership with Central California. Fresno State, with an enrollment of more than 22,000 students, is a minority-serving campus and a federally designated Hispanic-Serving Institution, reflecting the rich diversity of the region.
The President of California State University, Fresno leads the institution by managing the human and financial resources to fulfill the institutional mission. Working in partnership with the internal and external constituencies, the President provides overall leadership and guidance for the University. The President is expected to nurture and expand the academic reputation of the University and to collaboratively plan the future course of the campus by involving all the key constituent groups in such planning. The President is expected to symbolize the best qualities of the institution.
