The Medical Director serves as the Chief Medical Officer for the Student Health Center and provides leadership for the medical, clinical and public health aspects of the operation. Working in tandem with the Executive Director and the Administrative Director of the Student Health Center, the Medical Director of the Student Health Center is a key member of the center's senior management team.
The Medical Director leads the clinical team in providing high quality healthcare services to UCI students. He/she ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, local laws and agency and university regulations, as related to the practice of medicine in an ambulatory care setting. This includes but is not limited to: the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the California Medical Information Act (CMIA), the California Information Practices Act (CIPA), the requirements of the Pharmacy Board, the California Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA), and Hepatitis B immunity laws, as well as compliance with accrediting body standards such as those set forth by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).
The Medical Director is responsible for directing or overseeing the following functions, services and programs of the Student Health Center: Primary Care Clinic, Specialty Clinics, Nursing, Clinical Ancillary Services, Radiology, Clinical Laboratory, Medical Aspects of Emergency and Disaster Planning, Clinical Quality Assurance and Improvement, Clinical Staff Credentialing and Privileging (as Chair of the Credentialing Committee).
Salary: Annual $110,004 - $177,000
Work Schedule: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 a.m., M-F
The Medical Director will spend approximately 50% of their time seeing patients and 50% of their time in administrative duties.
MD or DO required.
Licensed to practice medicine in the State of California.
