Overview:
The American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine (AUC), an accredited institution founded in 1978 with over 4,000 medical graduates, invites applications for a faculty position in the Behavioral and Clinical Sciences Department. The Medical Sciences campus of AUC is located on the island of St. Maarten. AUC has an exceptional faculty composed of clinicians and basic scientists who instruct an accomplished and committed body of students.
All Faculty members are expected to continue their professional development and/or scholarly achievement, their public and/or professional service and actively participate in University life.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Behavioral Medicine curriculum is lecture based and presented in the fourth and fifth semesters of the AUC medical science program. Teaching responsibilities may include lectures in topics such as normal human development, high risk behavior, psychopathology, therapeutic theories, public health and communication skills. The faculty member will also contribute to the ICM curriculum. This four semester program through the use of small groups and standardized patients allows students to develop the skills needed for patient centered care. The faculty member will also be responsible for development and delivery of small group communication workshops.
Qualifications:
Clinical Psychologist with Ph.D. or Psy.D
The candidate should have good communication skills and a strong interest in working with medical students. The job will require working closely with other members of the Behavioral and Clinical Medicine department. Previous teaching experience is preferred but not required.
Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
