Rowan-Cabarrus Community College seeks applications for Librarian (part time)
Librarians, under the supervision of the Library Coordinator and/or Director, provide quick reference, detailed research and reader’s advisory assistance. Develops and maintains assigned library collections; provides one-on-one and group training for library patrons and staff; provides programming for adults. They are responsible for the circulation of material and the daily routine operation of the library. They must demonstrate ease of use of Internet and strong knowledge of subject-oriented research tools. This position will work Monday – Friday, 11:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and one Saturday a semester. This position is assigned to the North Campus; however flexibility to work at multiple locations is required.
Staff Required Education/Experience:
Master’s degree accredited by the American Library Association (ALA). Will consider an applicant with at least eighteen (18) hours towards an accredited degree, including Information Sources (Reference).
Physical Requirements:
- Positions in this class typically require: stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
- Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of library organization, materials, services, and policies and procedures; knowledge of the principles and methods of evaluating library materials and equipment; effective written and oral communication skills; ability to organize and supervise the work of assigned staff; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, staff of other libraries, and the public; and ability to conduct oneself with tact and courtesy.
