The Office of Undergraduate Admissions invites applications for a full-time, twelve-month position of Senior Admissions Officer-International. Under the supervision of the Director, the Senior Admissions Officer performs duties related to the recruitment, admission, and enrollment of undergraduate students in accordance with University and departmental policies.
Duties will include both domestic and international recruitment travel, application review and independent decision-making, and may work in both freshman and transfer areas concurrently. The Senior Admissions Officer provides and prepares analyses and planning documents in conjunction with the Associate Director and Director of Admissions to identify target international recruitment markets for the University; evaluates and processes admissions applications in accordance with University policies, goals and rules on admissibility of undergraduate international students; advises applicants regarding admissions requirements, eligibility for admission, program options, residency requirements and other matters related to their admission to the University; makes independent decisions based on academic credentials for applications received from a variety of academic systems and countries; keeps informed regarding academic program requirements, enrollment restrictions and other issues related to recruiting and admitting international students, including international education. Provide resource information to international and domestic students, faculty, and staff; engages in extensive in-state, out-of-state, and international travel to interview and recruit prospective students; actively participate in recruiting students through promotional activities such as personal contact with counselors, students individually and in groups, schedule visits to high school and college fairs, panel discussions, presentations and newsletters; supervises and evaluates professional staff member determining work assignments and establishing annual goals; as assigned is responsible for special recruiting programs requiring special recruiting efforts and knowledge of particular needs of target groups; responds to written, telephone and personal inquiries and requests for information; maintains and updates files, and compiles Admission reports for Associate Director; assists in admissions and enrollment programs such as the University-wide Open House as assigned; recognize and comply with relevant rules and regulations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA); performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in student affairs area or Bachelor's degree and at least two years prior admissions experience; demonstrated ability to make independent judgments and work under pressure; demonstrated ability for accuracy and attention to detail; experience with utilizing technology in work responsibilities; strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; willingness to travel to domestic and international markets and work flexible and irregular hours; and valid driver's license and proof of insurability.
Preferred Qualifications: Must be able to obtain a valid passport; F-1 and J-1 Visa training and/or experience; familiarity with SEVIS system; ability to speak fluently in more than one language; experience working with non-immigrants and diverse populations; experience working in organizations committed to global diversity; and familiarity with on-line computer information systems.
