Job Summary:

The Teacher Education Department (TED) in the School of Education of the University of San Francisco invites applications for Part-Time (Adjunct) Faculty for positions in the K-12 teacher credential program at the San Francisco (main) campus and four regional campus sites (Pleasanton, Sacramento, San Jose, and Santa Rosa).


Teacher Education is a dynamic and innovative department dedicated to preparing urban school teachers who are committed to diversity, equality, and excellence in education. The Department offers multiple and single subject teaching credential programs combined with a master’s degree. These programs are distinctive for their commitment to preparing exemplary teachers who share core values consistent with the goals and mission of this Jesuit University. The Department actively seeks to expand the diversity of its faculty and student body as well as extend its collaborations with schools and community-based organizations serving diverse youth.

Job Responsibilities:

Teacher Education seeks to hire part-time (adjunct) faculty who are teacher-credentialed practitioners with a sound theoretical background as well as depth of subject matter content knowledge and teaching experience in diverse classrooms that integrate theory and practice. Our credential courses are taught in the late afternoon and evenings during the week and on Saturdays. We are currently seeking part-time (adjunct) faculty for the courses listed below but will accept applications for other courses as well.

- Multiple Subject Curriculum & Instruction: Math & Science (includes PE)

- Education of Bilingual Children

- Education of Exceptional Children

- Health Education

- Teaching for Diversity and Social Justice

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualifications

- Master’s degree in Education or appropriate related discipline required; Doctorate in Education or appropriate related discipline preferred.-? California teaching credential required.

- 3-5 years K-12 teaching experience as teacher of record required.

- Demonstrable commitment and ability to integrate issues related to culture, language, equity, diversity and social justice into instruction.
