Position Summary:
With demonstrated ability to work with limited supervision, with flexibility to vary specific tasks as needed and coordinate with other data management staff to accommodate project deadlines, perform data abstraction and data entry from medical record documentation; maintain strict adherence to federal HIPAA policies and departmental data quality assurance and quality control standards; run basic computerized data queries as requested; assist in preparation of periodic reports as needed; assist in training of students or other staff as needed.
Typical Duties:
The Data Control Clerk II will perform abstraction of data from source records in patient records; enters data into relevant data collection format or program (web application, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access); performs self-audit at all phases of the data collection, data entry and data reporting to ensure that data collected is complete and accurate; compiles data, run basic computerized data queries and assist in consolidating/analyzing data as directed; advises and assists with design of tools to ensure data collection is performed within established timeframes, or as directed by supervisor; responsible for retrieval/return of patient records used for data extraction; and maintenance of tracking log of records loaned for review.
Qualifications:
Requires 1 year of relevant post High School education or equivalent and 1-2 years of related experience. Bachelor's degree preferred with coursework in biological sciences. Knowledge of medical terminology and interest in medical science strongly desired. Driver's license required.
Requires strong computer skills ( MS Access, MS Excel and MS Word, or similar applications for database management, spreadsheet and word processing). Accuracy and close attention to detail and excellent organizational skills are required.
