Job Description
The Health and Nutrition Sciences Department in the College of Education and Human Services seeks a Project Coordinator for a community prevention initiative focused on healthy eating and active living. The coordinator will function as the point person for the initiative, working closely with community partners, funders, steering committee, working groups, consultants, and support staff. The coordinator will: manage and cultivate relationships with partners; develop and disseminate campaign messages; support partners’ targeted interventions; recruit new partners; guide the progress and deliverables of working groups; facilitate collaboration across constituencies (funders, evaluators, partners); and identify and apply for funding to grow and sustain the initiative. Initial and on-going tasks include refining the vision, mission, goals, and strategies of the initiative; advocating for environments that promote healthy eating and active living; working with community partners to develop and implement shared measurement practices; and supervising day-to-day operations.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution supplemented with a master’s degree in a field related to the position, and 5+ years related experience required. Must have the leadership skills and collaborative spirit to effectively lead and support a strong, motivated group of partners. We are seeking candidates with excellent strategic planning skills, solid management skills, fund development ability including grant-writing, and ability to translate vision into results in a timely manner. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage diverse teams on community development projects preferred. Participation in some evening and weekend events required.
