Job Description
Under the supervision of the Associate Dean for Extended Learning & Special Academic Programs, the departments seeks a Programmer Analyst to provide programming and operational support to the functional area with an emphasis on online, summer sessions, winter session and special academic programs recruitment and business processes. The incumbent will perform complex, professional level duties in the analysis, evaluation, design, development, testing, implementation, documentation and maintenance of computer system applications specific to the functional needs of the department.
The department seeks a self-starter with a positive attitude, sense of urgency, a clear set of priorities, a strong work ethic, ability to adapt, a creative approach to problem solving and a high level of emotional intelligence and political savvy.
Provide documentation, perform quality control, testing, scripting, end user testing, test plans web integration, and other duties/projects as assigned. Support the Associate Dean as needed, specifically with respect to integrating data extracts for further analysis, reporting, and distribution. Extensive Office automation and VBA experience and skills required. Will also work on secure web integration and interface design. Experience with Ruby, Ruby on Rails (RoR), DHTML, XML, and JAVA, will be an asset. Understanding how to practically apply this experience to facilitate various business processes is paramount.
Export/import data from or to different software applications or data collection, retrieval or report output; maintaining simple or moderately complex databases through data entry, data queries, and database design modifications; create spreadsheets and reports using Excel, Access, Word, and/or other software application; develop enhanced workflow through efficient integration of data source, Office products, and other applications.
Demonstrated ability to clearly and accurately interpret and communicate the department's policies and procedures, using tact and diplomacy with internal and external campus community including international visitors; interact and work effectively with diverse groups within the department as well as campus and outside community; maintain a commitment to excellence in customer service by listening, anticipating, and responding to the needs of customers, as measured by outcomes rather than activities; proactively resolve technical issues by correctly identifying the issues to be resolved and determining the appropriate audience and methods for follow-up communication; work independently within delegated authority to complete assignments with minimal direction and set priorities that accurately reflect the relative importance and urgency of job responsibilities; effectively perform a variety of duties under a fluctuating workload, often changing from one task to another of a different nature; and maintain confidentiality at all times.

Qualifications & Requirements
BA/BS degree required in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications or other related field, with experience applying application development and related technologies to streamlining business processes efficiently and cost-effectively. VBA, Java/Javascript, and database and Microsoft Office expertise required. Extensive Office automation and VBA experience and skills required. Experience with Ruby, Ruby on Rails (RoR), DHTML, XML, and JAVA. Knowledge of Crosstab/Pivot Tables, for the purpose of generating analytical reports is a plus. Experience working with either Crystal Reports, OBIEE, SPSS, SAS, Focus or other report writing and querying experience and understanding of student information systems in higher education a plus;
Ability to demonstrate functional knowledge of administrative applications in support of various college business procedures; experience working as a programmer or business analyst and interfacing with client departments. Superior attention to detail, with a positive, goal-oriented attitude, is required for success in this position. Accuracy and application of best practices are essential along with integrity are key for this position.
Salary Range $62,000 to $68,000
