Job Description:
Notre Dame of Maryland University currently seeks a full-time Financial Aid Counselor responsible for reviewing all financial applications and assisting the Director and Assistant Director of Financial Aid with processing and compliance with federal regulations and institutional policies.
In addition, the Financial Aid Counselor will assess an individual student's financial need and ascertain the student's eligibility to participate in federal, state and/or institutional aid programs; provides counseling to students on the manner of integrating their financial concerns, relative to personal and/or academic problems; analyzes financial information submitted by students; provides counseling to students and assists students or parents in the preparation of pertinent forms; conducts financial aid workshops/conferences and completes all internal and external reports; evaluates the academic status of each applicant; and keeps abreast of current Federal regulations and guidelines pertaining to the student Financial Aid Program.
Requirements:
Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree and 1 - 2 years financial aid experience; related financial experience accepted. Knowledge of needs analysis and verification procedures, federal financial aid regulations; strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community are required. Some weekend work may be required.
