General Duties:
Works independently to carry out the general directives of the department manager and organ faculty.  General duties include tuning, maintaining, repairing, moving and rebuilding pipe organs.  Supervises the work of various part-time student helpers (whose primary function is key-holding).

Position Duties:
Tunes and maintains pipe organs on a regular basis, including voicing and action regulation.  Must have understanding of, and ability to tune historical temperaments.  Must be on call for recital and recording tunings.  Repairs malfunctioning pipe organ mechanisms.  Maintains inventory of parts and supplies, working within the organ budget.  Renovates, cleans, and regulates organ keyboards, actions, clients, pipe work etc.  Communicates with organ faculty, department manager, student helpers, and department secretary, in scheduling of work, managing time, etc.  Attends staff meetings.  General office work.

Position Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts and three years of technical experience or six years of related experience in concert-tuning skills; qualified in pipe organ regulation and repair; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.  Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty and artist is crucial.  Background academically or in the organ building industry to be able to communicate with other builders.  Knowledge of organ performance and literature as a player of the instrument desirable.  Membership in professional affiliations is desirable.
