The UC Riverside Office of Strategic Communications provides campus leadership in planning, coordinating and implementing communications programs that foster increased awareness, understanding and support of UC Riverside's mission, vision, accomplishments and needs among its many internal and external constituencies.
Reporting to the Director of Creative Services, and working in close collaboration with current design, web and video unit staff, this position will provide graphic design services for print, web and environmental (banners, signage) collateral materials as well as video animation support. This position works closely with the marketing and media relations units as well as a variety of campus departments and organizations.
The successful candidate will have:
Experience in providing cost-effective, professional graphic design and video animation services, including strong client management and project management skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
Must exhibit artistic vision, creativity, ability to produce original designs, flexibility, attention to detail, ability to meet tight deadlines and awareness of emerging trends in print and multi-media design.
Must be able to give and accept creative direction and to collaborate effectively with a diverse campus community that includes students, faculty, communications colleagues and senior campus leadership.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
Solid understanding of design, typography, composition.
Basic understanding of XHTML, CSS, Flash, Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign.
Experience in designing websites, electronic communications and/or web applications.
Execute designs from concept to finish, including preparation of files and interface with printers.
Design and optimization of assets for websites, e-mail, online ads.
Familiarity with brand stewardship and strategic marketing best practices.
Positive attitude and strong communications skills.
As a bonus, the successful candidate would also have:
Experience working in higher education and/or for non-profit organizations
Experience working within an agency or organization
Experience with Premiere and/or After Effects for video animation
Experience in PowerPoint and/or Keynote
Experience with design for tables and mobile devices (apps, publications, etc.)
