Description:

The Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto, Department of Medicine at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is inviting applications for the position of Head, Division of Medical Oncology and Hematology. The successful candidate should be eligible for a clinical full-time academic appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. Expected start date is July 1, 2013 or another mutually agreeable date thereafter.

Major responsibilities for this position will include clinical, administrative and academic leadership of the division's education, patient care and research activities.  The Division Head will oversee faculty recruitment mentoring and career development. He/she will serve as the Head of Systemic Therapy for the Odette Cancer Centre, a large Academic Comprehensive Cancer Centre within the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, and will champion the strategic initiatives of the Cancer Centre, Department, Hospital and University.

Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto and has a surgical and full service Medical Oncology and Hematology academic programme with residency programs in both disciplines through the University of Toronto. Sunnybrook is home to the Odette Cancer Centre, the sixth largest comprehensive Cancer Centre in North America.

The successful candidate must have a personal record of academic productivity with a National/International reputation and must have leadership experience within a Cancer agency. He/she must hold an MD degree, have or be eligible for certification in Medical Oncology or Hematology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and licensure in the province of Ontario.  Salary to be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
