Carlow University seeks a developing thought leader in ethics to assume the Michele R. Atkins Endowed Chair for Ethics across the Curriculum.

The Atkins Chair is the first endowed chair at Carlow University. The Chair requires an innovative, dynamic, and imaginative scholar-practitioner with a broad/pluralistic approach to ethics education and an eagerness to be part of a vibrant learning community. She/he will lead with faculty colleagues curricular design initiatives in a digital learning environment to integrate ethics into undergraduate and graduate programs of study. The Chair will serve as a thought leader in current and developing ethical issues. A candidate is sought who is an emerging scholar- practitioner committed to teaching who is able to span disciplinary boundaries. The individual will develop a University-wide agenda to increase ethics awareness that includes planning and presenting at seminars and conferences focused on critical contemporary ethical issue(s) and provide cooperative outreach locally and nationally and contributing to the ethics literature.

The successful candidate will possess the following desirable attributes: (1) a terminal degree in one of the following or related disciplines: Philosophy (ethics); Psychology (moral development); Social Sciences (comparative cultural values or communication ethics); Biological Science (ecology, genetics, health care); Law(legal standards/codes); Public Policy (regulatory controls); (2) knowledge of current trends and issues in ethics; (3) excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; (4) teaching experience and an interest in advancing the use of educational technology; (5) a commitment to the values of liberal education and to the mission and Catholic identity of the University.
