The Huntington University Board of Trustees announces a search for the University’s next president. Building on a proven track record of success, the next president will lead the development of vision and strategies to carry forward the University’s mission in a dramatically changing academic environment.
Huntington University is an accredited, Christian liberal-arts institution offering associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees in more than 70 academic concentrations. With the conviction that all truth is God’s truth, the University exists to carry out the mission of Christ in higher education.
Founded in 1897 by the Church of the United Brethren in Christ, Huntington University is becoming recognized as a leader in Christ-centered higher education. Forbes, U.S. News & World Report and Princeton Review all rank Huntington among the best colleges in the Midwest. Four out of five Huntington University professors have the highest degree in their field, and the student-faculty ratio is kept low, enabling each student to be mentored by outstanding Christian scholars.
The next president of Huntington University must be a committed evangelical Christian with a strong and active faith that is evidenced by past actions, personal values and active service. The president must become the most visible champion of the HU mission. He or she must possess a deep love for developing students that is aligned specifically with a “calling” to the role of the University president.
Huntington University has been recognized with the Andringa Award for Advancing Racial Harmony for its best-practice programs in the area of racial and ethnic diversity. The University's commitment to diversity among its student body is mirrored by an equally critical commitment to diversity among its faculty and administrators. As such, female candidates and candidates from diverse ethnicities and cultural backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
Applications will be accepted until the time that a new president is appointed; candidates should submit a cover letter and curriculum vitae by January 21, 2013 for most favorable consideration. The Presidential Advisory Task Force is comprised of trustees, alumni, faculty, staff and students, and is led by Trustee Kelly Savage. CarterBaldwin Executive Search has been retained to assist the committee in the selection process. A complete Search Profile is available at www.huntington.edu/president [3].
