To heighten public awareness of the Clemson Alumni Association through the promotion of its events, programs, awards, and services. Develops and implements a marketing and communications plan that ensures routine coverage of alumni activities and is delivered to the targeted audience through the appropriate communications channels. Supports each of the functional areas of the Alumni Association, as well as the Alumni National Council, by creating marketing materials as requested. Works closely with Alumni Staff, Annual Fund, IPTAY, Development personnel, and Public Affairs to ensure accurate, consistent, and comprehensive messaging is delivered to Clemson alumni.

1. JOB PURPOSE

Supports each of the functional areas of the Alumni Association, as well as the Alumni National Council, by creating marketing materials as requested. Works closely with Alumni Staff, Annual Fund, IPTAY, Development personnel, and Public Affairs to ensure accurate, consistent, and comprehensive messaging is delivered to Clemson alumni.

2. JOB FUNCTIONS

COMMUNICATION E/60%

1. Creates the Alumni Association's Annual Report and any related, supporting documents.
2. Coordinates with the Office of Public Affairs to ensure press releases are issued for appropriate and newsworthy events or achievements.
3. Works closely with the Publications and Marketing Office to select and provide relevant alumni information for inclusion in the quarterly Clemson World magazine.
4. Oversees the creative content and delivery schedule of the Alumni Association e-newsletter.
5. Compiles and retains demographical data on Clemson's alumni as requested.
6. Maintains a standing calendar that displays the Alumni Association's annual communications schedule.
7. Assists with special communications projects as needed, to include but not be limited to the following: preparation of scripts for special events, compilation of meeting materials, and informational submissions for University-related or external groups.
8. Supports and assists the Alumni National Council Marketing and Communications committee, specifically by submitting regular updates, recording minutes of committee business, and preparing agendas when necessary.

MARKETING E/40%

1. Works within assigned budget to create all marketing and promotional materials for Alumni Association use. This would include, but not be limited to, the following: brochures, fliers, "give-away" items, advertisements, articles, signage, and electronic correspondence. Supports the Alumni staff and their respective areas of responsibility in generating content intended for delivery to a public audience.
2. Ensures the Clemson Alumni Association maintains an attractive website that a) has both broad appeal to its alumni audience, b) can cater to the specific needs of constituency/affinity groups, c) is innovative, and d) accurately represents the current and on-going initiatives of the Alumni Association.

QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A bachelor's degree and experience related to the development and dissemination of informational material.

PREFERRED IN ADDITION TO THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree, and experience working in the fields of marketing and communications, with emphasis on writing and editing, layout/design, and web development.

PAY & WORK SCHEDULE:

Standard Hrs: 37.5; Band: 07 ($ 46,169.00 - $ 85,417.00)

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:

Must be capable of working under limited supervision. Position requires high degree of independence and personal initiative in carrying out responsibilities. Reports to the Senior Director of Alumni Relations.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Candidates must provide 3 samples of their work and may be asked to provide a portfolio of their work at time of interview.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Demonstrated creative ability is required of the successful candidate. Proficiency in oral and written skills is necessary, and experience in art design/ layout is preferred. Candidates should possess a strong attention to detail, and be familiar with word processing and data spreadsheet applications, such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
