The Registered Dietician is responsible for education and nutritional care of Temple - Jeanes Bariatric preoperative and postoperative patients, in the outpatient clinical setting. Provides ongoing nutrition education program development. Coordinates, plans and conducts programs to educate patients about concepts supporting bariatric surgery nutrition requirements. Develops, updates, and implements demographic appropriate bariatric nutrition education materials. Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelors Degree in Food Science and Nutrition, Dietetics or related field. Certification and at least three years of clinical and/or outpatient experience. One on one and group class counseling experience. Licensure required - RD, (Registered Dietitian), LDN-LIC - PA Dietitian. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills and Abilities:
*Must maintain Dietetic Registration.
*Working knowledge of current research trends surrounding nutrition and bariatric surgical procedures.
*Current and working knowledge of nutrition and disease.
*Ability to calculate special diets, i.e. renal, diabetic, bariatric surgery etc.
*Demonstrated proficiency using MS office and EMR system.
Demonstrated verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills.
*Ability to work independently and prioritize work.
*Willingness to maintain a flexible schedule to meet the needs of evening functions.
