Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
The CALS Business Center processes Financial and HR transactions for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Financial transactions include: vouchers, jv’s, idt’s, requisitions, marketplace approval, P-card reconciliations, personal reimbursements, travel reimbursements, receipts, check deposits, gift deposits and University Invoices. Most transactions are created and approved within the Business Center. The Business Center is responsible for State and Federal appropriations and fiscal year close outs.
Essential Job Duties:
The Director of CALS Accounting oversees a unit of 26 positions responsible for financial transactions for the college for all funding sources except Contracts and Grants. Funding sources include State and Federal appropriations, Academic, Research, Extension, Overhead Receipts, State Receipts, Sales and Service, Foundation, Gift and Trust. This position directly supervises 4 positions, 2 of which supervise the remaining staff.
Departmental Required Skills:
Advanced working knowledge and understanding of general accounting principles.
Thorough knowledge and use of Excel.
Demonstrated experience managing and supervising staff.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
Extensive knowledge of Peoplesoft Financials.
Working knowledge of University financial policies and procedures, and WOLF Reporting.
Experience managing and supervising accounting staff, preferably within North Carolina government.
