FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Graduate Center of the City University of New York, a Ph.D.-granting institution of CUNY, invites applications for post-doctoral positions from theorists with recent Ph.D.s in Physics, Applied Mathematics, and related fields.  The Fellows will be part of the Initiative for the Theoretical Sciences (ITS), its@gc.cuny.edu [4], where they will interact with resident faculty and visiting scholars.  Resources will be available for Fellows to organize workshops in their specific areas of interest, as well as to participate in developmental activities related to the establishment of a strong theoretical core at the Graduate Center.  Appointments will be at the level of Visiting Assistant Professor, and there will be opportunities to engage in a modest amount of teaching.  For appointments to begin in Fall 2013, we are especially interested in candidates working at the interface of physics and biology, broadly defined, but all fields will be considered.  Appointments will be for one year with an expectation of renewal for three years total.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent.  Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

COMPENSATION

The salary will be competitive and commensurate with the high level of accomplishment expected for the successful candidates.
