Job Functions:
Teaches freshman and sophomore courses in Graphic Design, Multimedia Design and/or Visual Communication, bringing valuable industry experience to the classroom so that students may get a real-world understanding of the graphic design field.
Collaborates with Continuing Education (CE) specialists to develop CE schedules and teaches CE courses when applicable.
Serves on college and System committees as required.
Serves as a community resource person and represents the college to outside groups when requested.
Work collaboratively with other faculty, CE staff, departments and divisions on schedule development, marketing events, faculty recruitment and retention efforts, budget development and special events.
Submits required college reports and forms in a timely manner.
Develops and utilizes a course syllabus for each course following established institutional guidelines.
Provides timely, quality access to students through posted office hours, electronic communication and other appropriate methods.
Continuously improves instructional quality by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods, including service learning, instructional technology, and distance education.
Advises students in academic matters, and evaluates students by a variety of means to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and inform them in a timely manner of their progress.
Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community.
Develops and pursues linkages with area high schools , businesses and community organizations.
Mentors adjunct faculty.
Performs other reasonable, related duties as determined in consultation with the instructional dean.
Required Qualifications:
Associate's or higher degree in Art, Commercial Art, Digital Media, Graphic Design, Instructional Media, Visual Communications or closely related field and a minimum of 3 years work experience in the field.
