The University of Wisconsin-Platteville (UW-Platteville), located in Platteville, Wisconsin, seeks a new Assistant Vice Chancellor for Information Technology/Chief Information Officer (CIO) to provide leadership for the advancement, administration, and management of the University’s information technology services. The new CIO will report directly to the Vice Chancellor of Administrative Services and provide direct oversight to the areas of media development, systems/application management, infrastructure services, technical support, information and analysis, applications development, and web development. The CIO will be expected to evaluate current university systems, develop and implement strategic planning efforts, articulate the importance of customer service, and work effectively with the UW-Platteville community to advance the mission and goals of the University.
A member of the University of Wisconsin System, UW-Platteville is one of the oldest public institutions in the state and is considered one of the safest campuses in the nation. The University enrolls approximately 8,000 students and sits on an 820-acre campus. UW-Platteville offers undergraduate and graduate programs delivered in the classroom and online by 241 faculty members and 115 teaching academic staff. Qualifications: Successful candidates should be able to envision, plan, and implement strategic initiatives that will enhance the service to UW-Platteville clients and support the mission and values of the institution. The new CIO will be an experienced leader with strong executive presence, well versed on industry-standard technologies, and able to lead organizational change. The new CIO will remain current in instructional technologies, demonstrate a history of sound management in support services, and encourage professional development for all staff. A collegial and collaborative approach to leadership, strong communication skills, and a strong service-orientation are key. A master’s degree is required for this position, while project, budget, and personnel management experience and responsibilities are preferred. Three years of leadership experience and substantial experience in information technology or a related field are required.
