The Vice President of Academic Affairs serves as the Chief Academic Officer of the College and reports directly to the College President.
Dutchess Community College, a unit of the State University of New York established in 1957, is located in the Hudson Valley 70 miles north of New York City. The College is known for its high quality and diverse academic offerings, serving over 10,000 students. DCC employs approximately 200 classified personnel and 550 professional personnel (200 full-time and 350 adjunct/part-time personnel).
The Vice President is responsible for participating in institutional policy formulation and strategic planning, overseeing all curriculum matters, providing leadership to faculty, encouraging teaching excellence, assuring proper assessment of student learning, and assuring compliance with all internal and external regulations. Additionally, the Dean provides leadership for the preparation and implementation of the Academic Affairs Division’s annual budget and coordinates all academic assessment initiatives and monitors compliance with regional and specialized accreditation standards.
The Vice President directly supervises three Associate Deans and provides leadership and supervision to academic department heads and other staff assigned to the Office of Academic Affairs.
The successful candidate must be able to work collaboratively, demonstrate strong managerial skills, and contribute at both the strategic and operational levels.
Requirements: Doctoral degree preferred with ten years teaching and academic administrative experience at a two- or four-year college.
