The Information Science and Technology Division (IS&T) of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University (PSU) is seeking a Research Faculty. ARL is an organizational unit of PSU at University Park, and our research faculty work in multi-disciplinary collaborations with faculty from several academic departments and advanced research centers. The IS&T Division of ARL conducts cutting edge multidisciplinary research in the following areas: Sensor networks and their operations in land, air, and sea environments; sensor data fusion; unmanned autonomous systems; machine learning; analyses for data from information to knowledge to decision; distributed systems; control systems; wireless networks; information assurance and cyber security; and embedded computer systems.
Responsibilities include: Conduct research in one or more of the above mentioned areas; supervise research assistants and student interns; interact with research sponsors; support on-going research projects; contribute to the writing of future research proposals; and develop new research directions. Research faculty will have the option of associating with an academic department of the University, at the discretion of the department, to teach courses, and supervise undergraduates, graduates, and PhD theses.
Faculty rank will be commensurate with education level and experience. Requirements include a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or any related field, and a minimum of three years of related postdoctoral experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Expertise in Information Assurance and Computer Security is very desirable. YOU MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN TO APPLY. This is a one year, fixed-term renewable appointment.
