Description of Duties:
Research major gift prospects (individuals and organizations); Prepare prospect/donor profile reports; Partner with Leadership Giving Officers and campus schools/units to research new prospects and possible funding sources for top strategic funding priorities; Serve as a member and co-facilitator of the Prospect Management Team; Develop & maintain a research library; manage research information services and negotiate annual contracts for these services; Create and maintain a prospect research plan & prospect research policies and procedures; Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the College's prospect data warehouse including the ability to write and edit queries and prepare tailored profile reports as needed/requested by development officers; Maintain the professional and ethical standards set forth for the field by the Association of Researchers for Advancement (APRA); Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of all aspects of data entry into the College's data base and train/advise staff and students to assist with data entry related to prospect research; Support comprehensive campaign initiatives and reporting as requested.
Bachelors degree; or Associates degree and 6 years of full-time experience in the field of prospect management/research; Experience researching new prospects and possible funding sources for top strategic funding priorities; Ability to make sound reasoned judgments and demonstrate the ability to identify unknown information gathering sources; Strong written and verbal communication skills; Strong attention to detail; an aptitude for logical thinking and a commitment to professional ethics; Strong computer skills, including proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of programs and proficiency in searching on-line databases and the internet; The ability to write and edit queries and prepare tailored profile reports; Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and meet goals in a timely manner.
Ability to interact with development staff, senior leadership and volunteers in a higher education environment; Developing & maintaining a research library; managing research information services and negotiating annual contracts for these services; Creating and maintaining prospect research plans & prospect research policies and procedures; Experience in the non-profit sector and an appreciation for working with sensitive and confidential information; Familiarity with the Banner Information System, particularly the Alumni Module of Banner; Strong familiarity with Microsoft Access.
