Gonzaga University, a Catholic comprehensive liberal arts university in the Jesuit tradition seeks a visionary leader to serve as the inaugural dean of its School of Nursing and Human Physiology. This is an exceptional opportunity for someone with the skills and imagination to mold, lead, and develop a school within a university committed to contributing in significant ways to expanding the quality of health and health care across the region and the globe through education, research and engagement with local, national and international constituencies.
Reporting to the academic vice president, the new dean will be responsible for academic programming, assessment of learning, faculty recruitment and development, alumni and community outreach, strategic planning in collaboration with the faculty and upper administration, budget and personnel management, enrollment management, fund-raising, development and school/university relations activities, and the promotion of collaborations within and beyond the university. The dean will play a key role in increasing Gonzaga’s participation in a public-private partnership developed to expand Spokane’s resources and stature as a major center for health education, research, and delivery of care in the inland Northwest.
The successful candidate will be an innovative, confident, and persuasive leader and skilled collaborator with a deep appreciation for excellent education and the networking and entrepreneurial skills required to work successfully with a wide range of individuals and constituencies across multiple organizations. The new dean will advocate for faculty development and the strengthening of students' educational experience and will develop creative private/public partnerships across the region. She or he will possess a relevant degree and record of accomplishment as a faculty member or administrative leader in a health-related or health policy field and familiarity with accreditation and licensure requirements in nursing and other health care fields, and with traditional and newer modes of educational delivery.
