The University of Rio Grande/Rio Grande Community College is a unique partnership between a public community college and a four-year comprehensive university. Deeply rooted in Appalachian history, both institutions are committed to encouraging lifelong learning, personal and professional growth, critical thinking and problem-solving skills and effective written and oral communication skills to students from the southeastern Ohio area, the state, the nation and the world. The campus of the university and community college is nestled in the rolling hills of southeastern Ohio, and is adjacent to the original Bob Evans Farms and Homestead in Rio Grande.
The University of Rio Grande invites applications for the full-time position of Director of Human Resources. The position will be available immediately upon successful identification of a final candidate.

Position duties include planning, recommending, and directing the implementation of policies and procedures relating to University human resource activities, employment functions, compensation and benefits (including workers compensation), employee services, personnel policies, payroll, labor contract administration and Security Services. The Director recommends policies and procedures that comply with applicable laws and regulations. He/she supervises HR staff, which includes the Coordinator of Payroll and Benefits and administrative assistant.

Qualifications:
Knowledge of human resource administration as normally acquired through a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, or a related field; Bachelor’s acceptable only with 7 – 10 years as a senior HR management official directing multiple functional areas. Licensure/certification such as PHR or SPHR preferred.

Approximately 5 to 7 years prior or related experience required with preference given to experience in higher education. All applicants must demonstrate a minimum of five years experience in overseeing personnel.

Knowledge of federal rules and regulations related to payroll and multiple HR areas such as FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, FLSA, etc. is mandatory.

Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills required in order to communicate, train, advise and negotiate with all levels of personnel regarding personnel decisions and to maintain productive working relationships across the institution.
